I would pour research into space travel related technology, but not necessarily what you might expect. Propulsion and stuff, sure, maybe, but what's even more important in the nearer term is the environmental science and technology crucial to safe and even comfortable long-term space flight, orbital and unterraformed planetary habitation, and of course terraforming. The benefits to the earthbound would be enormous, because we'd understand so much more about ecological interactions, recycling, health, and so forth.
