(in list form out of sheer laziness).
-I am wondering if it is wrong that I am already looking forward to the summer even though winter hasn't even officially begun yet. It's probably not healthy. Really fast forwarding though the entire month of March would be good enough.
-I am thinking that I should make a New Year's Resolution in which I resolve to go to bed by 10 at least 3 of 7 nights a week.
-I am very impressed with the amount of Christmas shopping I have done already but even more impressed with the amount that is wrapped...and two full weeks before Christmas!
-The Blackberry Torch is awesome.
-I need to go on a "reading retreat." Seriously I have such a backlog of books I want to read going on right now and I never seem to get enough "reading time" in. Before bed every night just isn't enough.
-I have an idea book...a place to keep track of the many ideas I get from day to day. This is great but I need to be better about making all the great ideas come to fruition.
-Also, I need to stop being afraid to ask for help. Some of the ideas I have are BIG...and taking in to consideration the rest of my everyday life, there is no way it would be possible to make them happen without assistance.
-And now? I need to go to bed...at 10:30...not so bad.

What Part About This Is Funny Again?
This is one of the reasons we are where we are in this country. When people don't even know who their elected/appointed officials are, or how many their are how will it be possible to change anything? The part that gets to me most is that these people, who clearly do not educate themselves about the goings on in this country are probably same people who somehow feel like they have a right to complain. That right is earned...by voting and voting intelligently (and by intelligently I mean by educating yourself and knowing who and what you are voting for).
Check it out.
And no, this is not a hallucination...I did update twice in an hours time.

Why...
...do overwhelming thoughts of what I need and want to do (with day to day things and life in general things)need to flood my head just before bed time? I am pretty sure that I will not be able to sleep now because my brain won't shut off.
Also? I really should keep a good old fashioned paper and pen style journal in addition to this one. There are just some things that aren't meant for public consumption.
One more thing? I should totally write a book. After I get over myself.
And that, is my rant for the night. Going to cue up the "sleepy time" play list on the ipod and attempt to sleep.

Anniversary
Nine years ago this month, I started blogging. Wow. To put that in perspective, Emily was just four years old, Katherine was almost two and Julia had not yet graced us with her presence. The girls are now thirteen, almost eleven ,and six. Somehow, nine years seems even longer when I think about it in those terms.
Nine years of my life have been chronicled for the world to see. This blog (and other incarnations of it) has been with me through many trials and tribulations, births and deaths, joys and sadness. It has helped see things in a different light, made me laugh, and made me cry, either through my writing or responses to it. It has been therapeutic in ways that I couldn't even begin to express. Perhaps most importantly it has helped me remember...remember some of the little things that I otherwise may have forgotten as time passing tends to make us do...remember some of the big things that maybe I might have wanted to forget but can now refer back to and see what lessons can be learned...remember the great joys, great difficulties, the happiness, the sadness and everything in between that the past nine years of my life has brought.
I have no plans to ever give this up...writing that is. Whether it will always take the form of a blog...who knows. What I know for sure that this outlet has been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling parts of my life and one that I plan to explore for many years to come.

Just Because
I have been reading through my archives a lot lately. I love remembering stories I have told and thoughts I have had. I mentioned recently on Facebook that my blog has on occasion served as a reference. Often, if I am having trouble remembering when something happened, I can go back through the archives and figure it out. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to go back and see what I was thinking or doing roughly a year ago today. Not a lot of blogging happened in March of 2009 but, I did come up with this funny story regarding Emily and her math test.
October of 2010 will mark 9 years of blogging for me...9 years of my life documented here and in other incarnations of My Life In Words. While I have taken some lengthy breaks (I think the longest of which was 4 months) I can't ever imagine not blogging. This truly as been a wonderful outlet, and one I can not imagine my life without.

Ongoing Project
I recently decided that I wanted a hard copy of every blog entry I have ever written. I have had two incarnations of this blog on other sites, plus various other topical blogs which I have had over the years. My introduction to blogging was in 2002, back when Katherine was just three years old and Emily was five. Most entries have been personal in nature. I have really gotten so much out of using this medium to share with the world my thoughts. There has always been this fear however, that all of this time and effort (and the story of my life for the past 8 years) would be lost, should there be some major crash of the world wide web. I know it's a silly kind of fear but one never knows. I have copied and pasted every entry from my first blog, and am halfway through the second. I haven't yet touched this blog, or any of the other topical type blogs mentioned. The document is 238 pages long. I have written a book length story of my life so far, and have more to go.
Something about this amazes me. I am looking forward to one day passing this story (in hard copy form) on through the generations of my family. What a treasure it will truly be.

Tap, Tap, Tap. Is This Thing On?
Yes, I am back. Yes it has been close to four months since the last update here. Yes, I am ashamed. And yes, I am listening to the Fray, which has absolutely nothing to do with anything but somehow seemed to fit in to this paragraph.
So, clearly this would be the longest blog post ever if I were to update you all on what has gone on in my life over the past four months. We can just sum it up in two words: nothing major. Life has just gone on, you know? It makes sense, at least to me, to start from here, this moment right now and go forward.
Or perhaps we could fast forward a day or two until Monday when I officially have to report for jury duty. In making every effort to get out of this, I have indicated on the jury questionnaire that I am of the opinion that if the police have arrested someone, they are more than likely guilty. I don't really think that of course but, it seems like it will be one heck of a good reason for me not to serve. Civic duty be darned. Let's face it people; jury duty sucks.
I sat on a jury once. It was some silly personal injury case in which the pizza delivery dude who slipped on ice while making a delivery was suing for some crazy amount of money. I remember thinking that the monetary compensation he ended up receiving was so dramatically less than what he was asking for, that the whole court procedure was a wast of his time. There's no question that it was a waste of mine.

So...
...with the exception of the "locked blog" and the Elementary PTA blog, I have decided to cancel all other blogs and do it all from here. As it is, I am having a hard enough time keeping up with this, my main blog; I can hardly expect to keep up everywhere.
I may or not not import all entries from my various other blogs. I do not plan on deleting them, just not updating any further.
I will also be updating the blog roll with some new additions, as well as deleting those that are inactive.
***UPDATE***Done! the blogroll is current!

Slacker
I haven't updated here in a week! WOW! I doubt it's a record for me, given vacations and whatnot but it certainly is longer than I like to go regardless.
Life has just been busy. Not unusually so, but sometimes, when there is down time, I am just too tired or have other things in mind that I want to do, like catch on recorded tv or read. It seems like I have been doing both in marathon sessions, rather than just a bit at a time.
This weekend, in particular has been and will continue to be busy. Yesterday we had trick or treating with the kids. We went to the old neighborhood as usual, and met up with the Ryan family. Ryun's sister and her family walked with us for a while as well, which was nice. Speaking of being busy, we don't seem them as often as we should/want to for that reason alone, so when we do, it's a good thing. Tonight is the big Halloween party we have every year. This year marks 10 years since the first one, so I plan on making it memorable...which of course they all are. It seems like we will have a good turnout which is nice. Tomorrow we are heading to my parents house for my nephew Jack's third birthday. How the heck he managed to go from being born to three so fast I have no idea...kids have a funny way of speeding up time.
Anyway, I am hoping to keep up here a little better than I have been. We'll see what happens.

One of these days...
...I will actually post something longer than a sentence or two.
Apparently, just not today!

This may be...
...the last entry for a week, or it may not. I had intended to write, in advance at least a few entries to appear here next week, but this week? I have been a slave to my washing machine, my dryer, my kids (oops did I just say that?) and time has just not allowed. There is still some chance that I might, depending on how much I get done and at what hour, but, there is also a chance that we might have internet access on the cape. We will have a laptop on hand, it's just a matter of whether or not there is a wireless connection available to "snag."
Anyway, check back if you are so inclined. You never know what might miraculously appear.

Gone
We are leaving tomorrow bright and early (well, not actually leaving til 10 or so but up and loading the car early). I have managed to write 6 of 7 or 8 posts that I wanted to. Not bad. They will appear here beginning tomorrow and concluding on Friday. I will return on Sunday with an update, and no doubt pictures to share.
Have a great week!

Busy
The next couple of days will involve major packing(we are leaving for our camping trip to NH on Sunday), swimming at my parents, and general house cleaning. I am happy to say, that despite my total lack of motivation this past week, I have actually managed to start the packing process, and, I have written three scheduled posts which will show up here on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday of next week, around 12:30pm. I have a few more posts in my head that I just need to find the time to compose, so if time allows, I may have some more scheduled for the rest of the week. Some topics I want to post about include Julia's appointment with the developmental pediatrician and what the doctor has officially diagnosed her with, Some concerns I have regarding Emily, a few education-related posts that will end up over at the education blog, and probably a few other things that are escaping my memory right now.

Test
This is to test the "scheduled posts" feature recently introduced by Blogger.
*Update* And it works! YAY I am going to try and write a post for each day of next week that we will be gone, which is quite ambitious for someone who has not been doing a lot of blogging lately. We'll see what happens!
