Coupons...do you clip and use them for grocery or other shopping?

  1. Nope. I used to, until the cost of the paper seemed to start outstripping the value of the coupons I'd actually use. We use a lot of generics and don't buy a lot of processed stuff anyway, so the numbers don't add up.

  2. Almost never. Part of it has for many years been the types of things coupons tend to be for and how much they offer. I remember discussing with my sister, probably not more recently than about 1990, the way coupons were once for significant amounts, then you started seeing too many that were like ten cents off of a $3 item that nobody in their right mind would pay more than $2 for in the first place.

Part of it's the effort for, again, the reward; kind of the same thing I just said. Give me 50 cents off 5 lbs of sugar and I'm there. Give me a quarter off a $3 box of frozen whatsits I could make for 50 cents of ingredients, I don't think so.
