Does anyone know how to...

...make an image "unclickable"? As in not allowing someone to right click and save the image? I am trying to set up an etsy shop and want to set the pictures up in that manner. If not, I will just photoshop them with a "proof" statement faded in somewhere.

  1. I'm pretty sure you can't do that there, because it requires that you alter the page, not the photo. Watermarking would be the way to go. Or if you're mostly worried about people printing, resolution tricks.

Give the forums over there a search...the topic comes up not infrequently.

  2. What she said. See fatzombie.com for an example.

And also, if you are selling prints of your photos, put showing a small version of the graphic, it should not be worth much for someone to save a copy explicitly.

Further, without some kind of really fancy tool, you can't prevent someone who wants it from getting a copy of the graphic, because it has to download to the local hard drive in order to display. Disabling right-click on the page, which is one of those "it's not 1996 anymore" things like autoplaying music or sounds when your page loads bad design choices, does no good. I have gone out of my way to grab protected pictures when someone had a lame right-click disabled setup, just to f*ck with them even if they'd never know it

I'd watermark the ones you display, or watermark if you display a larger version people can see by clicking.
